Jeep Jamborees are off-road adventure weekends that merge the outdoors to jeepers and their Jeep 4x4 off-road SUVs. The Jeep events, commonly referred to as Jeep Jamborees began in 1953 when legendary Jeeper Mark A. Smith organized the first-ever Jeep Jamboree and took to the Sierra Nevada Mountains aboard his Jeep 4x4 and traversed the Rubicon Trail. Then in 1954, Willys Motors, which manufactured the legendary Jeep 4X4, lent its support to the Rubicon trail run. Jeep continues its support to this day. Mark A. Smith has since become a member of the Off-Road Hall of Fame as well as the Explorers Club, leading the 1978-79 Expedicion de las Americas, which was a 20,000-mile odyssey from the bottom of South America to the top of North America and crossed the infamous Darien Gap. In 1987, Smith entered the Camel Trophy in Madagascar. In 1982, Smith founded Jeep Jamboree USA and has become a Jeep brand consultant and also conducts intensive training for the U.S. Army Special Forces as well as a multitude of law-enforcement agencies.
