The 2007 Tecate SCORE Baja 1000 is the 40th running of the legendary granddaddy of all desert off-road races and is slated to run from Tijuana, Baja California Norte to La Paz, Baja California Sur, Mexico. Race events take place from November 11-16, 2007. The off-road desert race includes such vehicles as the SCORE Trophy Truck, off-road truck, SUV, 4X4, prerunner truck, buggy, VW bug, Jeep Cherokee XJ, motorcycle, dirt bike, ATV and UTV. As the third largest city in Baja California, Ensenada can attribute is growth to its highly valuable and naturally protected harbor and modern port facilities located along the Pacific Ocean on the northern half of the Baja Peninsula. Clad with scenic vistas that overlook sand beaches and rock cliffs as well as numerous boutiques, shops and restaurants, Ensenada, founded in 1602 by Sebastian Vizcaino who sailed into the bay to name it Ensenada de Todos Los Santos (Inlet Of All The Saints), hosts an array of events, including the Tecate SCORE Baja 500 and the Tecate SCORE Baja 1000. Access by land from the United States to the "Cinderella Of The Pacific," as it is often referred to, is easiest through ultra-scenic and ultra-smooth Mexico Federal Highway 1 Toll Road and is approximately 70 miles from San Diego, California and the international border. Ensenada is Baja California's third largest city and Mexico's second most visited ports because of the many cruise lines and pleasure boats that grace its harbor.
The 2007 Tecate SCORE Baja 1000 will likely be approximately 1300 miles long and include a majority of portions that were seen in the feature film Dust To Glory, which was an extremely rough desert off-road race course that saw rigorous sections amid the mountains of Baja Norte off the start as well as tough sections in the mountains of Baja Sur. We forget the word we got from inside sources but it will apparently end in La Paz, but don't quite yet quote us on that.
