While you were twiddling your thumbs in the comfort of home, flipping through the channels and the boredom of NASCAR, we were in the desert, weaving through the barrel cactus and watching the 2007 AMA D-37 Invaders MC Desert Scrambles at Red Mountain, California. The weather was a bit warm by the bomb start and quickly became a broiler, but the desert off-road racing remained on par for a typical day and beats a day slumped down on the sofa growing dizzy from watching a NASCAR race. Mikey Childress got the drop on the bomb aboard his Rockstar Energy Suzuki. He held the lead with about 15 seconds to spare for the first lap but gave it up later in the race after coming to terms with a close call at speed. Childress finished 10th overall. Nick (Nicholas) Burson ultimately captured the win aboard his Billet Racing Products (BRP)-backed Team Green Kawasaki KXF450. Brett Saunders (Four Aces MC) aboard a Kawasaki KXF450 and Jacob Argubright (100's MC) aboard a Kawasaki KXF250 dirt bike topped off the podium, respectively. Mid Cities Honda rider Nick (Nicholas) Blais (Rovers MC) aboard his Mid Cities Honda CRF450X finished fourth overall. Amy Hasten (Checkers MC), riding for FTD Products and Winner's Edge and reigning champion, was again the top women rider on the day, finishing 68th overall and on the road to recovery after an accident earlier in the year.
